Quality Education from a Godly Perspective

Northwoods Christian Academy is an independent Christian K-12 school established in 1992. We established ourselves primarily because we felt that there is a joy in discovering the Lord’s hand in creation, and the magnificence of His glory in all we can learn. Knowing that this opportunity does not exist in the public sector, we sought an opportunity to create an environment where students could learn about God, and experience God in a setting that gives God rightful glory. Though we believe that it is primarily the parents’ responsibility to raise godly children, it is NCA’s desire to partner with parents to accomplish this goal.

Our Vision: To Teach, To Reach, To Complete

vision-statement

“Go into all the world
and preach the Good News
to everyone.”
Mark 16:15

TO TEACH

NCA believes that each student should know and experience the love of God and the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We desire to teach them problem analysis and decision-making from a Christian worldview by providing an excellent Christ centered educational opportunity for the children of our community.

TO REACH

NCA believes that each student should be equipped to let their light shine in this world and bring glory to God utilizing their unique gifts and talents, training them to serve Christ by serving others in their home, church, and community. They need to be fully equipped to discern and teach truth in order to make disciples in the world. (Matt. 28:18)

TO COMPLETE

Our goal is to direct our students to an ongoing journey toward spiritual maturity that will continue their entire lives.  Our prayer is that they would bless the world by accurately reflecting Jesus in their work, in their play, and in every association.

“Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:4 ).”

I love to teach because it is a rewarding gift from God. I can share my knowledge with everyone and also spread the Word of God. I can be like Jesus who was a teacher, too!

A little about our teaching style…

4K and Kindergarten

The objective of our 4K and Kindergarten programs is to provide a lively academic program which gives students an enjoyable educational foundation that capitalizes on their innate curiosity. The schedule includes Bible lessons, art projects, songs, puppets, numbers and skills, letters and sounds, language development, and active learning games.

Kindergarten students are usually able to read by the end of their school year.

Elementary (Grades 1-6)

Grades 1-6 are grouped together in a variety of ways. Each grade is taught grade-specific material, and held to a high academic standard. This multi-level class situation allows interaction between students of different ages and abilities. It also facilitates student-to-student learning in addition to learning from the teacher and text book instruction. It has proven an effective method of developing our students both academically and socially. Core subjects include Bible, Language Arts (reading, writing, spelling and grammar), Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. Special courses taught by volunteer teachers include music and art.

Our curriculum consists of textbooks and materials produced by varying Christian publishers including Alpha Omega, Apologia, Bob Jones, Hewitt, and Saxon. Saxon Math is used from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Every class is taught from a biblical perspective with the goal of teaching a Christian worldview.
